Bp and the skin

Does anyone that is BP have problems with their skin bothering them in a complusive way, if it has a bump, irritation or anything not level with the skin or not as soft, so they have to scratch it constantly to get it off?

Thanks for the info. I am going to discuss my problem with my psy. I see him nxt week. It is a compulsion, like a person quiting cigarettes having to do something with their hands. You don't even think about it, you just feel it and it has to come off. Like there is something  foreign. I have had this for a long time and talked to my dr about it, but I guess he thought it was a passing thing, but it isn' t and it has progressively gotten worse.  RJ

My daughter has BP and she has similar symptoms, related to anxiety. Before she was diagnosed and placed on meds she would pick at things on her skin til they bled. She has scars on her feet from ant bits that she would not leave alone and her last BP episode 4 weeks ago she started on her arms. She scratched until her skin was inflamed and then continued until she had scabs on both her forearms. (hoping it doesn't scar) but yes this is something she attributes to anxiety secondary to her BP. She doesn't do this unless she is in an episode.

Sorry, I hadn't posted back before now. Thanks for your input. Went to my counselor. She told me it was anxiety too, and to talk to my phychaitrist about strengthening one of my meds that calms me down. Thanks again

You may also have a compulsive disorder or it could be anxiety induced from medication side effects.  When I was given an injection of phenergan to stop early labor caused by vomiting, it made my skin crawl, and I thought I was losing my mind.

It's not a symptom of BP.

I cant comment on BP as I am the one trying to find out if my daughter 8 is BP. But she constantly obsesses over her skin, she complains its itchy all the time and is bothered by even the slightest bump, pimple or scratch.
sorry i know this is no use for you and hopefully someone with bp will tell you. All I have learnt is that OCD can co exsist with BP and perhaps your therapist can shed some light.
