COPING with DOWNWARDS mood swinging :(

COPING with DOWNWARDS mood swinging :(

am BP II ,, suppose to be more depressed than manic as described by pdoc,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,however i cannot stand it anymore,,,,,i never had a GOOD mood more than 21 days when am lucky and that was 2 years ago,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i had about 10 good days now and started my usual decline again 3 days ago,i can feel it sneaking gradually and i try to fight it but i fail in a matter of days(3-5most). i do not know how to cope any more..i take long walks in the early morning, trying to be active among my beloved ones,,,,,,,,,,,,,,still no use am getting more and more drained on my energy..........the only help my pdoc gives me is meds and i do not think that is the only answer, it is not helping ,only keeping the hypo mania away ,,as i had a sever one when i was first diagnosed.

am on lithium 800mg
lamictal 200 mg
and the new one which i hate is trileptal 300 mg for 15 days now as i had early symptoms of hypo mania

any thoughts plz,,,,,,,,,,,,past experience on the subject of coping with low mood swinging

Your medications should be helping but it sounds like it isn't.  Maybe you don't have the right ones?  They work different for everyone.  You need to let your doctor know it isn't working out for you.  Try keeping yourself busy with something you like, I just hope you aren't having depressive episodes to the point you can do nothing but just sit and stare vacantly without moving.

Are you able to enter therapy?  At first, I didn't think therapy would do anything for me, but my pdoc wanted me to go.  It has helped tremendouslly!!!!  I would definitly reccomend it for anyone who is bipolar.  I won't stop the depression but it will help you deal with it.  Look into it, ok?

Hi

Right now i am trying an AD called stablon/coaxil you will not hear about it in this forum as it isn't sold in the USA, Canada or Australia only in Europe they banned it there. It doesn't mean bad but a war of the pharm comp and Servier the producer has to pay M of dollars to the FDA while the patent is gone so anybody can produce it. Anyway, my grandmother is on it too, she isn't BP but being 85 it helps there, I know it's given to old people because it has no side effects nor interactions with other drugs. I bet with all the mood stabilizers you are on it won't do you any harm. All pdocs in egypt write it around i have been told. You can ask your pdoc about it, it's weak, 12.5mg will possibly help after a while, it's also very good for anxiety if you often have it. I have the feeling from the many views i read on the net that it's good.

as for your rapid cycling if you have it, lamictal will take care

Sometimes talk therapy helps you to find ways to deal with your depression and to lift yourself up a bit. My therapist has helped me in many ways to see things and deal with things in my life differently. Along with the meds it has helped a great deal. Good Luck
