Illinois has nothing like that but the federal gov has SSI. It's not a real good option but it will get him medicaid through the state. There are almost no drs that take medicaid here so finding a dr might be hard but it's got to be dun sooner or later by someone. I found the best shrink and he's funded by the hospital in my town. It aint ez but SSI is a tiny lil bitty bit of money to buy gas with and the medicaid can be invaluable if there's an emergency. EVERYBODY has to take it in an ER. IL aint the best example for med help but it's where I'm at. Good Luck. Shane
What state are you in? I am in Tennessee, unemployed and I am on an insurance called State Only Mental Health Care. It is through TennCare / Medicare. It covers all therapy, psychiatrist, hospital stays and medications for me. You might want to call your local health department and see if they can point you in the right direction. I believe every state has a program for the mental disabled. Good luck!
