Feel terrible after I eat

Feel terrible after I eat

I am currently in a mixed state bipolar episode and am wondering if anybody knows why when I eat my first meal of the day my heart races, become angry, horny, very confused and weak. Symptoms seem to taper off after 3 hours or so but still don't feel as clear minded as before first meal. Jeez I hate eating that first meal, and I do not have diabetes and am not currently taking any meds. Anybody?

Also anybody know of any good websites or books on  mixed states?

You are mixed state and not taking meds?

I see a bit of a problem right there.  Do you have a pdoc?

Well I dont know what to say.. you say you have tried most of them - what MS have you tried ?

If you are not on a mood stabiliser (and you really should be if you are experiencing mixed episodes) then the symptoms you have described are not abnormal and agitated symptoms such as morning anger, arousal and racing heartbeat are all normal - I suffer from dsyphoric mania myself and those are common morning symptoms for me - the reality is that you wake up unstable and slightly dehydrated and when you eat you stabilise - what you call not being as clear minded is because your mania is calming down.

I cannot understand your circumstances but I truly cannot conceive as to how you can be having mixed episodes and not on an MS - even lithium is effective at controlling this and if you have been through 3 pdocs?

What was your original diagnosis?

If you want to read a bit about mixed episodes which is also called dysphoric mania and agitated depression you can do some googling - this is the wikipedia page on it which is a starting point :  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agitated_depression

In all seriousness note the comment on that page : "Mixed states require medication" its not a joke as I know I need medication to deal with mine.

You cannot be a BP and have mixed episodes and not be on meds and for any MS to work it needs a period of time to bed in - what have you tried?

i agree with m onkey, the only way to control mixed states is with meds, dificult to find the right regime and am still hoping they'll come up with one that works for me. lithium zyprexa and ritrovil (klonipin (klonopin)( seem to be the best ones so far, try to go to your pdoc and talk about what is happening with you. the help is out there you just have to find it.

Not sure about your side effects, but I'm having tummy troubles too in the
morning.
I have tried everything I know to get where I can take my meds.

What do you mean about being in a "mixed  state"?

I get symptoms every time I take meds though. Even 1 pill.
Wish I could help...
