Hallucinations - Real or Not?

Hallucinations - Real or Not?

So I'm sure this will be another odd question that no one has comment on...but thought i would throw it out.  I have occasional auditory and visual hallucinations.  I am on medication for BP2 and BPD.  In the past there have been some hallucinations that i still swear were real...but it's just not possible that they could have been.  There are also the ones that i know are not real - or i pray they aren't.

So here's the thing, all my life - even since a small child - i dreamt of events that i knew nothing of from the 1800's.  As an adult, i know of a place that exist and know everything that took place there before i ever opened a book to read up on it's history.  So...question is...is this another form of hallucination?  Becuase if there is some tie to something that was before and it can give me answers to these disorders and the havoc they've caused...i would search it out.

Hallucinations do seem real when they occur. I experienced them before recovery and they did take over my mind and seem real at the time but when I look back they weren't. Best thing to is speak to your psychiatrist about it. If something keeps you from being grounded in reality its generally not a good thing.

I had something similar happen while psychotic where I felt like I was remembering things before they happened.  I don't even know how to properly describe the experience except for that.

I believe that hallucinations and psychic memory are real. I just have never known them to exist in the same person. If you know of a place and it exists, and you have never been there, I would say it was a psychic memory. My husband used to have them about being on a Navy ship while bombs were falling all around him. While watching a special on Pearl Harbor it all became very real for him. I believe he was there in a past life. In saying this, I also know that hallucinations can seem very, very real at times. Your choice. By the way, are you a beekeeper? I used to keep bees and found it very relaxing and a pleasure to do. They hated my husband tho and I swear would fly butt first for him lol.
