Harming Disorder/Bipolar

I really did not know what to select for the topic, and I have more than 1 disorder to discuss. I have these thoughts sometimes . . . I will be cuddling with my dog and I have this image of either hurting her or disecting her. I will babysit my nephew, and I have this image of slapping him or throwing him against the wall. Or I will be talking to someone and have these urges to stab them in the chest with a knife. My roommate has a computer, and I will have this image of knocking the monitor off the desk and smashing it to pieces. Does anyone out there suffer from this? What is it called. I named it Harming Disorder.

Also, I have these moments where I will get extremely hyper all of the sudden. My thoughts will race. My heart pounds, and I am irritable if I can't be alone. I write, and I become really creative and disorganized. Then, it all goes away, and I am depressed for a while. After that, it starts all over again. Is that Bipolar?

The visions of violence are scary, aren't they?  I have my own stories to tell (your examples hit very close to home), and feel like there is a fine thread keeping me from acting on those visions.  I haven't been able to get any doctor to comment specifically about them, but then again I down play the severity out of fear of what others will think about me.  I am so accustomed to them now that they don't scare me, but I feel disgusted with myself for even thinking it.

I don't think that it is just bipolar disorder that produces the feelings.  But if it is, it seems likely that it is a crossing of delusions of grandeur with aggression.  The violence could be equated to holding power over someone.

I have had some similar stuff before.  I think mine is more of an anxiety thing though.  I have scenes of people i love being harmed - and i hate it...it comes and goes.

there are many mental disorders that have similar symptoms.  Bipolar has many, but not everyone gets the same ones.  My daughter is bipolar, she does not have the harming symptom you do.  Your racing thoughts and hyper period does sound like a mania period.  There are personality disorders, some of which may fit your feelings of doing harm.  Personality disorders are extremely hard to help.  there is no meds for that, mostly talk therapy to help change thought patterns using tools you have learned to stop them. Definitely go to a psychiatrist.   good luck

OMGoodness, I thought I was the only one.  I have NEVER mentioned it to my doc b/c I was afraid of being committed or something.  Heres a question though....how do you make them go away?
