Hello

I was diagnosed with Bi-polar disorder R/O Schizophrenia. It is my understanding that one symptom of bi-polar disorder is extreme paranoia. Anyone else have this diagnosis? Is it possible to have both disorders? They have me on Risperidone. I read that is to treat bi-polar. Is there something else to take for the paranoia? It does not seem to be going away. Anyhow, I'm happy to find others that are like me. Maybe I can get some of this crazy stuff out of my head. My family definitely does not understand me.

In bipolar with psychotic features a person has psychotic thoughts only during moodswings. In schizoaffective, as I have a person has them all the time. Generally a psychiatrist gives an antipsychotic for psychotic thoughts but that is their decision. I have been documented as having made a full recovery (read through my posts) but the antipsychotic agent I am on is still in Phase II FDA study but a person will still have a fair remmission from psychosis with current antipsychotics. Speak to your psychiatrist about your concerns.
