Does anyone know the difference between hypomania/mania and symptoms of high anxiety...

I keep getting what feels like very hyper....Saying and doing weird stuff and having racing thoughts...But I suffer from anxiety and im wondering if I have hypomania or whether anxiety can cause these symptoms?.

I only get the hyper symptoms when im around people and making them laugh etc or on my own but when I start thinking about it and usually about twice a week for about an hour and its not a nice hyper....its scary and im scared at the same time as being hyper.
Please if you have anything that can ease my mind, id rather have anxiety than mania anyday.

There is a kind of bipolar sometimes dubbed type 3 but its called cyclothmia dont quote me on the spelling lol even psychology students misspell things.. but anyway that is something that fits what your asking. In answer there really isnt much of a diffrence hypomania translates literally as 'less than mania' so when does low level mania become hypomania and when does high level hypomania become 'proper' mania. It is irritating i find.

Have you been diagnosed offically with any kind of anxiety disorders or bipolar of any kind?

I have both social anxiety disorder and bipolar1. I can tell the difference between acting hyper because I feel anxious and awkward. The difference for me it that with mania I feel euphoria in addition to racing thought and restlessness, and I feel like that when I am alone. When I am acting funny because I am anxious it only happens when I am around people and I don't feel euphoric AT ALL. I can't get wait to get away, if I were manic I would want to stay around people. Hypomania is more subtle and mania doesn't always mean euphoria. I guess your doctor would be the one to ask.
