HighTSH and bipolar

by adama86, Feb 16, 2009 04:03AM
I just received result that my TSH was 11.08. I have been quite hypomanic, constantly busy, unable to sleep, frantic and very talkitive, however my nails are brittle, I'm losing hair, and I seem to be colder than others. Is my bipolar disorder counteracting some of the hypothyroid symptoms? If my synthroid is increased, will I become more manic?

Speak to your doctor about it. But from what you are describing health wise your Synthroid is too low. Synthroid is used experimentally to treat bipolar depression so I don't believe it would in any way worsen things. Ask your doctor to speak to your psychiatrist if you are concerned though.
