How to do dump a Social Worker - How do you Gentle Tell the Person you don't need them

I like the person but I feel I don't need any social workin' right now.
I have eight free sessions and basically I needed the support when I was in  transition with my new meds. Last time I was adjusting to moodstabliers I didn't get any support from a social worker and did very embarrassing things when my mouth was shooting off. Basically I should of taken time off from school until I felt more sure about my meds and how they reacted.

This time I didn't take any chances and I stayed home for four weeks. I felt it was a smart move but I lost a whole months pay. I am broke now and the social worker wants to go into my personal life which I feel uncomfortable about.

I have come to terms with my life issues with another social worker along time ago.
I think its better to let sleeping dogs lay.
Why rehash old stuff that you have come to terms with along time ago?

So I'm going to politely tell her I don't want to go any futher. Solution solved.

But Social Workers have to work too.

I agree, just tell her that you don't want to continue. You don't even need to explain. If she gives you objections & says it's a bad idea, you can use this technique: just let her know you understand and appreciate what she's saying, but then just repeat that you've decided you don't wish to continue. Just keep repeating and repeating your point until you can gracefully say "good-bye."

Example:

Social Worker: But if you quit seeing me, there's a big risk.

You: Maybe so. But I've thought about it, and I've decided to stop coming.

Social Worker: I don't think this is a good decision.

You: Well, you could be right. I'll find out. (smile). But like I said, right now I've decided not to come here anymore.

Social Worker: I really want you to reconsider.

You: I've done a lot of thinking, and believe me, I'll keep thinking about it. It's always an option. But for right now, I've decided I won't be coming anymore.

Hope this helps,
Jenny

Don't worry, they'll find work with someone else. ;) I would do like you said, just tell her that you don't want to go any further.
