by MARRIED_HUMAN, Jan 25, 2009 04:03PM
I am 36 and my wife is 24, we are 2years 3months in marriage . My wife has heavy highs and lows on mood swings, she also gets into depression suddenly and then stays too long , her behavior turns aggressive too many times, she uses her anger to use it psychically on me , I mean hitting me with hand on my face etc, becomes too abusive at time vary filthy and rude ,  this all affects me, my family and my social life , cause I cant predict how she will react on the same or new situation again ! She at times is too demanding on sex which is too hipper I think . I am getting scared of her cause I feel she will either harm me or herself and I am unable to understand this situation, I love my wife, by I am getting scared of her more, please help me suggest some solution.

You can't accept any form of physical abuse. However, I would encourage her to speak to a psychiatrist. Put it in a positive way that it will help with her recovery.

Has she been diagnosed with bipolar then? If not she has all the classic symptoms as you must know. If your wife is refusing to see a psychologist then you can call the police next time she turns violent. No one should have to put up with this. There's a law which places violent mentally ill people in institutions to be monitored and diagnosed. If she's beyond recognizing that she has some severe issues then it's up to you to find help for her.

I wonder if there are times between her cycling that you could help her to find some help. My husband and I have a set of guidlines that we use when I have eposides. But ...for you it would be impossible until she got some help.  To the best of your ability try to remember that she is sick and this is not personally.... Hitting under any conditions is unacceptable

I must say that you have to decide what exact step you need to take to begin rescuing yourself (from the violence) and her from the future.  As you must now realize, the longer you allow the violence to continue, statistically it will escalate.  If you love her and want to be with her no matter how sick then you have to take steps.  You must decide if she will get help under any circumstance and create that circumstance.  It is always better to have them acknowledge something is wrong in order to start the process of finding help.  Without her cooperation, you will find a lot of resentment and anger.  I wish you all the luck you will need.

Since you admit that you love your wife then this is the key point in your relationship since it imposes a certain responsibility towards her. I recall in my mania i hit my father seriously many times and hurt him badly yet he never objected rather he forgave me knowing the reason of my aggression, as well as my mother. She is under psychosis when manic. Your wife simply manifests symptoms of bipolarity. Your duty is to bring her to a psychiatrist. she will be ok and you will notice the difference she will be a lovely personality and cherishing you or like the French say: caline et affectueuse". She is out of her mind right now.
Don't worry everything will turn out ok. Just hold on
Good luck
