Is it something else

A bit of background, I am 52 year old male who has been treated for depression for 12 years. I take 400 mg of Lamictal and 25 mg of seroquel a day. I do not drink, do drugs or drink or eat anything with caffeine.

I can go 3,4,5,days in the dumps and then in a "second" my personality will go from depressed, laying bed, to jumping out of bed and ready to tackle the world. I am filled with energy. This seems to be a cyclical. What is so interesting is that the change "literally" occurs in one second. I can't seem to figure what it is that triggers the instantaneous change. I suppose this may seem odd, but I would almost love to hear that this could be a sign of disease or tumor that could be addressed through medication or surgery. --- It would be wonderful to feel normal all the time.

That probably would be rapid cycling but could speak to your psychiatrist about it who would know for sure. At higher doses Lamictal can sometimes worsen mania. Either way what you are taking doesn't seem to be treating this aspect of it so you could speak to your psychiatrist about how medications could be adjusted or changed. Rapid cycling is just a part of bipolar where the change from mania to depression occurs at a fast rate and it can be treated.
