Is there another option besides disability?

Is there another option besides disability?

I am 24 years old and suffer from Bipolar Disorder. I am unable to hold a job because of my severe "outbreaks" of anger or anxiety. The longest I have held a job is maybe no longer than 6 months. I have not been able to be on medication for my disorder since I was 18 because my Medicaid insurance expired. I live in a small country town in Alabama that refuses medical treatment of any kind if you do not have medical insurance. I have tried the local Health Department and they have not been helpful either. Many people have suggested I apply for disability for medical insurance benefits. But, is this the only option I have available? I am currently unemployed and cannot find employment since Jan. of '09. I have no available funds to pay for programs like nationwide insurance or others. If this is not my only option can someone please help me so that I may seek the medical help I need? My psychotic episodes have seriously strained my life and relationships and I am very unhappy. Any help would be appreciated.

I could give you more information if you pm'd me but as insurance coverage options differ from state to state I'd suggest you go to local independent living center as they could give you full information with an in person consultation:
