Job?

ok, when i was diagnosed in 2009, i was in college, and since, i have not been able to put myself back into the classroom environment.
unfortunitally, i want to get married, and we are wanting to find our own place, and the unfortunate part is i am uncertain we can live off my boyfriends income. so, i was thinking about getting a job where he works so we can share car rides together go to work at the same time, and such. .have one vehical instead of two to cut down on cost.
my question is:
if i get an interview, and this job is a call center, what do i say to the interviewer? they may ask me things like what makes me think i want this job, or can i handle it, or questions i am totally unsure about, and if i answer honestly, they may just pass me on by.
i would say things like, well, ive never worked in an environment before, i dont do well with others, i am afraid of people, im afraid of peoples moods and react to them.
and the thing is, this cooperation is based on team effort and such.
i just dont know what type of job i could handle. i hear that people with bipolar can have a successful job career, but, when it comes to the public, i am a hermit. so, i dont know what to do.

With how you describe your needs and the job requirements, it doesn't seem like a good match. Sounds like you need a job where you can work alone. Perhaps you should go to a temp agency and try different jobs to see how you do. You might also be able to use Vocational Rehabilitation. They would help you with a resume, interviewing skills and looking for a job.

I have had so many problems with going to school and working that I eventually applied for disability as suggested by my therapist at the time and got it. I am so relieved to not have to have all that stress on me anymore. I am not saying you should run out and apply for it, but if you find you need it you can apply for it. Good luck to you.

I avoided being with people for about 5 years and the thought of working again was my worst nightmare - as hard as I tried I could not find a job that didn't involve working with others!!!  Fast forward .....  I had been feeling a lot better mentally for a long period (about 8 months) and decided to test the waters,  I started off in a part-time job with absolutely no responsibilities so the only thing I had to worry about was the "people" aspect - a supermarket!  I hated the job BUT it gave me some confidence back and I realised it wasn't ALL people I hated and that there were actually quite a lot of decent folk out there!  So I took the next step and got myself a job in an office, a lot more responsibility and working closely within a team.  I've been there 6 months now.  I'm doing sort of ok, I have my bad days where the thunder cloud appears above my head but nobody at work has said anything.  Not sure I should have gone full-time though, it is hard to keep up the pretence of being "ok" when my mood is fluctuating, so step 3 is to find a job similar to the one I'm doing but with less hours.

So my advice would be to start out small, part-time with no responsibilities and see how you cope.  There is no magic answer unfortunately, we all have to just dip our toe and test the waters, what works for one doesn't always work for another but hearing how others have approached things can give some insight.
