Lamictal Withdrawal

My doctor recently increased my lamictal dose from 100 to 150.  Of course, I already have a full menu of other medications that I take.  I was on that dose for a couple of months and it wasn't good.  I changed from "Honey, would you please pass the butter" to "Why did you put the butter all the way over there?  You know I am going to want some...sheesh!"

My doctor said that this shouldn't have affected me this way and that I must be extremely sensitive to it.  He lowered it back to 100 and I feel like crap.  Dizzy, nauseous, weak and am sleeping way too much even though it still feels like not nearly enough.  My brain does not feel right.  HOW LONG WILL THIS LAST? This is day 4.

I have serious depression now instead of irritation.  I could care about nothing.  My brain is not functioning and I am one of those adults you hear about that goes back to college.  I have major schoolwork due.

My medication had not been changed in over 2 years.  He had to take away my panic attack .5 sublingual Xanax because of some new law and tried to fix it after I was still having severe panic attacks by changing up the lamictal.  Then he says to me that he may change my Effexor, too.  I don't think so.

I was on that medicine merry go round for over 20 years.  The last two years have been tolerable and he wants to change it.  Not happening!

When will this withdrawal be over?

Yeah, it's the same manufacturer.  Thank God it is over now and the only thing that is a little out of whack is my equilibrium.

Thanks for the Valium, Ativan advice.  I have been on Ativan before, but hadn't thought about it.  Pretty sure my doc will be okay with that.

Thanks guys!

Did they change tablets on you when you changed the dose?  Some people are really sensitive to the differences between brand and generic or between different generic manufacturers.  If they did change, try to figure out what you had before.  Drugs.com has a pill identifier if you have an old one around or you can remember what it looked like.

Has Dr tried Valium or Ativan to exchange for the Xanax ?
Also. Lamictal may be slow to get into your system.
Talk therapy has made a huge difference in my well being. Support group thru DBSA is also free.
Another thing that's helping. I've made some new friends. This keeps me from thinking about how I feel all the time.
