I've relapsed again, as I have posted in the past. However, I seem to be getting better, my doc upped my Lamictal from 200mgs to 225mgs. It's been rough, over the past few weeks, I have been a human guinea pig. We've been trying various medications and they've all caused me more problems. Lithium agitated the heck out of me  and Seroquel started to make me cycle harder. However, the normal Seroquel seems to help as a PRN; it evens me out a little and has helped me sleep as I have had an unusual bout of insomnia over the past few days. I just can't take the XR version of the medication. And, we'll have to see about the normal version, it might cause some problems as well.

The Lamictal and Neurontin (1600mgs) have been the best medications for me and we'll play around with those dosages until we find a good mix.

So, basically I need to stick with straight anticonvulsant medications; they work the best for me. I need some success stories here; what anticonvulsant medications have been helpful for you folks?

Oh, I wish you luck on finding the right meds. I don't have any success stories unfortunately. The only anticonvulsant I was on was Lamictal and at 50 mg it gave me a rash. Too bad. :( I'm on lithium but extreemly low dose and I need to titrate up soon, probably. I'm happy to hear you are on the right path, though. It sounds like you've found some good answers, like lithium is not so good for you and Seroquel also. Those are good things to know. Like I know I can't take lamictal and no abilify for me. I think that's what we're all in for, trial and error.

Good luck!

Yeah, the whole battle has been a two headed beast...

The Lamictal and Neurontin combination has worked for me and it's not like it just stopped. The mood swings are nowhere near as bad they were before I was placed on them. So, I would prefer to just plays with those medications and find solid dosages.

The other option is drastic; get off of the Lamictal, figure out if it was causing the bad reaction to Seroquel and Lithium and work from there.. I don't want to mess around with that, for obvious reasons.

We'll see, the higher dosages of Neurontin work for me, but it's because it puts me in a medication haze. At this point, I am accepting that fact; it may get me back to being functional again.
