Lovaza for Bipolar

I have recently been hearing about Lovaza (fish oil) for treating bipolar.  Has anyone had any experience with this med?  I have found out that my insurance covers it.  Any side effects I should know about?  Does it work?

Never taken it but I was reccomended to a while back by my psychopharmocologist. This is some information on it that might be of use:

Fish oils and/or Omega-3's can be used as supplementary therapies, but should never replace the pharmaceutical therapies available, there are some good studies that say that it's works well as a supplement. It's not cheap, but I'm going to add it again to my diet shortly, though, when I was taking it last, I really didn't notice any difference, but it's just good for your diet.

No Lovaza is not fish oil. It is an FDA approved anti-cholesterol medication that works similarily to fish oil, used off label for bipolar experimentally. I was almost
prescribed it and my mother might be taking it for cyclothymia. Some mood disorders specialists and psychopharmocologists are already using it and other psychiatrists might be willing. Its usage is known. Its just not a first line mood stabilizer.
