Menstrual suppression vs Mood Disorder medications

Does anyone know the "right" combination of medications for someone who needs to suppress menstrual periods and is also taking Lexapro and Lamictal for Major Depression with Bipolar 2 ?   My daughter tried taking Yasmin continually (not taking the "fake" week of pills for 3 months) but experiences almost daily cramping, hot and cold flashes, nausea.  The gyne was stumped as to which BC pill would be best, as Yasmin is for the PMDD, but causes the side effects for her.  Other pills have a different chemical make-up, but more estrogen can cause more mood swings.  Does anyone else take Lexapro and Lamictal in addition to a BC pill to suppress periods?  Thank you!

I take Loestrin continuously and have no periods at all.  It's made all the difference.  I don't have any side effects.  Everyone is different though.  And yes, I take Lamictal as well

When I was on Lamictal and the pill at the same time I had a lot of spotting, I mean a lot.  I was on Seasonalle, where you only have 3 periods a year.  I am not on Lamictal anymore (with my dr's approval) and am not having any problems with bc.  Please do not stop the lamictal based on my experience, talk to both of your doctors and see what they say.

This was be something best discussed with your daughters doctor. Just tell everything you have told here. I write everything down to take to my doc so I wont forget anything I want to discuss.
