Miss Diagnosed

i've been on fluxotine now for over a year, for depression, and at first it really seemed to take the edge off. before that i used alcohol, x, coke and other self-med therapies. i'm now going through pretty quick up/down cycles and the prozac is really no help at all. i'm really hyper at work (advertising) and get away with some pretty inappropriate comments. total lack of focus. grandiose thinking. etc.  could this be bipolar type 2? hypomania? cyclotyhmia?

sounds like bi-polar but then again, only a doctor can make those decisions.  You may also want to ask if the drug use plays a role in current events... you never know what chemical changes can occur through street drugs, especially x and coke....  definitely speak to your doctor about this and be honest about the drug use......

Definitely something to talk to your doctor about ASAP.  If you are experiencing the beginning of a manic episode, it is important to get treatment early on to prevent escalation.  Google psych education + Phelps for a great site about bipolar spectrum.
