Specific question about Seroquel

What happens when someone with no mental illnesses or symptoms takes 50mg of Seroquel regularly?

He will literally sleep through his life. I was misdiagnosed with mental illness (and I really don't have any) and I literally slept 20/24 hours a day on the smallest dose 25 mg. I actually lost a ton of weight on it because I was sleeping so much I stopped eating. This is not a drug to mess around with!

how long has he been like this....and have you noticed any changes in him first off?
He might also want to get his thyroid checked....I have been on seroquel for over 3 weeks and its not fun....I sleep too much when I take it before bed....headaches and sometime confusions....Please have him go to a doctor....

i was a mess when on seroquel.
it affected me in various ways and i cant understand why someone would take medication when they dont need it. its like plastering up you leg when its not broken.

he needs to see a doc soon so he can look at bipolar diagnosis and get on the right meds for him or otherwise get some help for possible addiction to prescription meds.

Seroquel can aslo raise your sugar levels if not taken correctly. With any med your body will get use to it and can have recation if not taking off correctly so he should dissues the issue with his doctor

I take Seroquel and it is not something to fool around with. Definitely not something for recreational purposes. I take 200mg and can only take it in the evening because it is so sedating. It has also damaged my heart and I now need to take medication for a heart arrythmia. I am only still on the drug because it has really helped me. For me, the positives outweigh the negatives. But your friend needs to see a doctor before diagnosing himself and taking medications. There are serious side effects from all medications used to treat bipolar disorder and he needs to be under a doctor's supervision. The side effects are for everyone - no matter what the diagnosis.

He is not taking any other prescribed medication that I know of.
Are those the side effects that anyone who takes the medication can suffer from, or specifically one who does not have the disorder?

i have a med book in front of me cause i just passed the med aide course back in may. it says here u can only get it in 25mg, 100mg, 200mg, and 300mgs. the adverse reactions are centeral nervous system- dizziness, headache, somnolence, hypertonia, dysarthria, asthenia, neuroleptic malignantsyndrome and seizures. Respitory- increased cough, dyspenea. I would seriously tell ure friend to go to the doctor so he can put him/her on the right dosage and monitor the blood pressure. is ure friend taking anything else with with med? there are alot of drug interactions with this med.

Thank you. It is not me taking the drug, but a friend of mine. He is convinced he is bipolar and so gets the drug from an unknown source. But he hasn't been diagnosed with the disorder, and I'm wondering if it could have any harmful effects for him, such as heart or respiratory problems. But then again, it is such a small dose, that I was wondering if he would only feel the side-effects and none of the rewards.

Does anyone else know?

it will make you drowsy if not make you fall asleep entirely. the effects come quickly, within 30-40 minutes. I would not recommend taking this while going to school, work or driving. Recreational use of this drug is i guess possible, but I would not recommend it for the effects of it are not pleasant or euphoric, rather they are dumbing. dont abuse this drug, not because its medically not recommended but because there is nothing really fun about it. And even if you could get any sort of a good high from it you would fall asleep. this isnt a barbituate or benzo, not even a sleeping pill though it can be.
