Tightrope

I feel like I am walking a tight rope between mania and depression right now.  I am trying to do everything right, eat in moderation, exercise, get enough sleep.  I sleep a lot, but this has always been true for me.  If I start losing sleep I go manic.  I sleep about 13 - 15 hrs. per night.
I feel like I could go one way or the other so easily!  I don't know what to do!  I don't even know why I am writing this, I guess I just need some support right now.

I know how you feel. I always feel like if the wind blows I can go one way or the other. As for me, though, I know I don't get enough sleep and when I do sleep I don't rest. Or when I sleep I feel guilty about it. I also know I could have a better diet but that's not possible right now. And I also know I don't exercise as much as I should. So, really it is probably all my fault I feel this way.

So just hang in there and know you're doing the right thing and hopefully you will start to feel better soon.

I can identify with what you're saying. I'ts like you have to be one step ahead of yourself all the time. I had to make some extreme lifestyle changes to keep myself in a 'safe' place and even now I can easily start to go either way give or take a few hours sleep (or forgotten /late tablet).
What I try and do is identify early enough when I'm waivering and counteract it as early as possible. The doctor is cool about me adjusting my meds within a given limit without me contacting him for this purpose.
When your feeling fragile, just put yourself first. I've cancelled plans at the last minute - just do whatever it takes to keep youself well and don't feel guilty about it. All the best!

The best thing to tell your doctor is the truth. Tell them about your anger and that you are under a lot of stress. Make a mood tracker here on med help and print it out to bring to your appointment. This is often helpful because it is hard to remember exactly how you were feeling on specific days to explain things.

Only a doctor can diagnose you if you are not already diagnosed. You may or may not need medication depending on if you are diagnosed with bipolar or something else. But, either way you can see a psychiatrist, psychologist, or even a therapist may be able to help you with your anger.

Good luck!

You have already started in the right spot, you can get some answer's here on the symptoms pages. That was the way I figured, with the help from my angel of mercy (my general practioner) out that I am bipolar. You need to see your doctor and they  will have a little test for you to take, you have to be HONEST in your responses no matter the circumstances, that will reveal what you have wrong with you I am 50 now and have had to work extremely hard to get my temper under control in my younger years. My thing was to punch inanimate objects (ripping tv's off the wall) and put many a hole through the sheetrock in my wall of several homes, I have gotten pretty proficient at wall repair. As you can see we bear some of the same symptoms and I firmly recommend you see a dr. If you don't have at least a general practitioner, you need to find one. I can't tell you how much better I feel just on 2 weeks of drug therapy.
I will be looking for more posts from you on your progress and consider you as a friend because we share a lot of the same symptoms.

i have gone to see my doctor and he has put me on ciprelax for my stress. he said it should help to make things a little more easier to deal with. it takes like 2 or 3 weeks thought for me to start to see the effect of the drug but once it all is kicking in i hope it helps out.
