can depokote and risperdal be taken together?

My 8 year is taking depokate 125mg. I am taking him off and going back to the old doctor and want to start the old meds of risperdal back. do i wean him off slowly of the depokate and slowly start the risperdal back. the old doctor will not call me back and tell me and the previous doctor i am going back to can not advise me.

depakote is an antimanic and risperdal is an anti psychotic. They can be taken together, I have done it, but an 8yr old is awfully young. Is he seeing a psychiatrist to get these meds??
