I have been very lucky, and have been working very closely with my GP. All my meds have been prescribed by her, and through research of my own. I will eventually go see a psychiatrist, but I am in the midst of going through the paperwork with the government to get approval for disability which would pay for the psychiatrist, so if you have to wait that long, you may want to discuss your symptoms with your GP, and work with him/her until you can see a psychiatrist.
Delusions can be a sign of psychosis but only a psychiatrist would know for sure. A psychiarist usually follows up more than once a month especially when starting a person on medication so that can see how its working. Why hasn't the psychiatrist seen you for over a month? As well when you do see the psychiatrist let them know what is going on and ask them how they could help you better and what they are trying to treat.
