I'm no expert, but if its bipolar disorder you are talking about, then you will have times when you feel "normal". At those times i have found asking a close friend, in my case my wife as to what she thinks I have been like. You see we don't always see ourselves as others do. Go to your appointment, explain all this to the pdoc, he/she will have the experience to make a correct diagnoses. all the best.

p.s. the thought that you are going to someone who can help may also make you feel better.

Bi polar is characterized by the highs(manic) and the lows( depression). There are periods of  normalacy when the endorphins are balanced correctly.
So the bi polar is always there but you could say in a sense it hides. I say my bi polar is in remission. LOL
I do find I tend to cycle around full moon and in periods of extreme stress.I call them my minimanics sense I have been stable for quite sometime now.
Healthy diet, regular rest, exercise, meds and therapy are all keys to controlling bi polar and maintaining stability.
Keep coming here and we can help while you go through this. You are not alone.
Love Venora
