ect

i have been bipolar for 20 years. i was taken off lithium 2 yrs ago because it was affecting my lithium--then i had a psychotic break and was hospitalized for over 8 wks. since then no meds have worked well for me and i was started on ect which has continued at intervals, now once every 2 wks. i feel the ect is helping me but is destroying my memory, both short and long term. now the doc wants to put me back on low dose lithium along with a med to protect my kidneys and monitor them closely. i am curently on trileptal and seroquel but still have anxiety and hypomania. i don;t know what to do. has anyone had similar experiences with ect and/or with low dose lithium?

My uncle had several ECT sessions.  He swears that it saved his life but the trade off was it destroyed his memory.

I took ect from 4/2008 to 7/2009 and ended up with all kinds of problems. My memory is terrible, short term and long term. I've been on trileptal for 3 yrs and seroquel for a year. The seroquel helps but I put on a lot of weight. I'll never go back to ect.
