Thank you Pamela!!
Great info. My Psychiatrist is slow to do a medication free approach but is willing to listen to me....not like some of the other ones I have been to. Still better than meds! is how I am sure I could be. Glad to hear of your success. Leslie
Dear Leslie. I've feel the same or maybe a little better now. I tried 8 med changes & wound up on my original drug combo during last year.
I had the support of my Psychologist & a bipolar support friend when I went off meds 9 weeks ago.
I'm super careful not to have more than 1 1/2 cup of coffee. Eat very little sugar. Pasta, but no other breads or wheat. Vitamins.
It's hard with the fatigue that bipolar seems to bring, but when I feel the littlest energy I go outside for a walk & sunshine helps. Swimming is the best. I don't get an endorphin rush, but can cope better.
I have a support group thru DBSA. I think the sleep is still being disturbed. But I have longer times between waking up with that terrible anxious feeling.
All said. If you do your research. Make a plan. Get a Dr to be on board. It's been a worthwhile experience for me. I am resistant to med treatment too.
So I'm glad I'm doing it this way for now & personally felt more danger on the medications. It requires lots of Cognitive behavior & I feel like I'm vigilant all of the time. Still better than meds! Pamela
