hyperactive

Has anyone experienced severe hyperactive states when cycling?  The reason I ask is that normally when i am up I am just extremely happy and going out and being active having a blast, but last night i was literally bouncing off the walls.  I had my EMT class and the instructor who happens to be a member on my squad asked if there was something wrong. then a friend that is taking the class with me said that i seemed like her ADHD boys at home!  I did feel very strange, i felt like i had seriously just drank 10 pots of coffee with out the frequent urination!!  i dont feel like i really had control enough to stop my mind from jumping around.  i do know that i was just laughing and talking NONSTOP!  i just couldnt say enough and i had an opinion or comment about everything.  it was very difficult for me to sit/stand still i had to pace or shake( i normally am a shaker or a pen clicker i think it is a way of release, its like my lightening rod it draws all of the stuff to the pen so i can think clearly without all of the static and busyness in my head, if that makes since) but this shaking was almost to the point i was bouncing out of my chair (maybe a bit of an exageration but you get my point!)
Also if you have experienced this what have you done to try to control it.  oh off note a bit...i have realized not to say how to stop it because there is no way to stop what we are, but that it is now how can i control it!  i think that is progress!

Its called Mania or Hypomania - its not hyperactivity.  I was like that by default for 25 years.  ADHD is a common mis diagnosis for bipolar children because hypomania looks like hyperactive to normal doctors who then treat it with Ritalin which is not a great drug for Bipolars.

First off are you on a Mood Stabiliser?  If not you should be (I cant remember if you have said this or not).

Mood Stabilisers help to manage mania, the dangerous thing about mania is the flipside high then low in cycle amd normally the higher the high the lower the low.

I think you need to get your drug regime checked, if youre getting manic there are drugs and techniques you can use to control this.
