I thought that the weight gain with Lithium was water weight. I can't say for sure though.

correct - lithium wont increase appetite and weight gain with it is either water retention or thyroid problems - I get nausea if I dont eat with lithium so it does not make me want to eat.

One of the best things for BP is exercise, its also a good way to control weight -its a way of offloading stress as well.

Weight Gain can happen

To: Weight Gain
When I went on anti psychotics (at the time lithium, paroxetine, welbutrin) i gained 10 lbs each month, until I went from 145 to 235. It could have been due to my hypothyroidism, but that was under control at that time. I think the culprit was the lithium. Good luck!
