Sorry, I just woke up. Palpating is the wrong word. Meant the doc has to touch and feel the rashed area to figure out more of it's character.

Also, it is possible it may not even be a rash or psoriasis but could be some sort of infection. Starting from one tiny dot and spreading is an important piece of information for the dermatologist to answer. Also, you may get a consultation to a plastic surgeon (not a cosmetic plastic surgeon) if it isn't psoiiasis or a rash. Plastic surgeons know how to deal with wound and skin care.

Ask for an urgent appointment. Stat is medical jargon for absolutely urgent or now. Apparently, your gp doesn't suspect that you have SJS, but I wouldn't rule out some kind of infection. For anything like what you are experiencing, it requires looking, palpating , and maybe, even take a sample from it to treat it properly. It really needs to be seen up close and personal.

Your psychiatrist won't know how to treat your skin problem or be able to discern whether it is a rash or psoriasis. It is hard to tell from your pic what it is without being able to see close up what the raised reddened areas look like. For this, you need to consult a dermatologist. How you tret a rash and how you treat psoriasis are different.

No you don't sound vain. It's a pesky problem. You would need to call your psychiatrist to inform him/her that you aren't taking lamictal anymore and why, and to get covered for the bipolar disorder and be aware that you probably had a drug reaction from the lamictal. Ask your gp for a referral to a dermatologist. A dermatologist will have more indepth knowledge to treat skin problems than your gp.

You need a stat appointment with your doctor, and they might tell you to stop taking it.  That looks a heck of a lot more like pictures of SJS than it does of pictures of psoriasis.

If you can't get a hold of your doctor, go to urgent care or even the ER, especially if it's getting worse.  Hopefully it's one of the benign rashes that lamotrigine can cause, but you really don't want to be the 1/1000 who is coming down with SJS.

Because of the potential of a dangerous allergic reaction to Lamictal
known as Steven's Johnson Syndrome, any time a person has a rash when they are on Lamictal they need to report this to their psychiatrist.
Your psychiatrist can then decide within their clinical discretion
what the appropriate follow up is.
