I am BP and used to take lexapro(didnt help me at all).I was on several meds over the years, and the ONLY thing that helps me be stable is the old standby,Zoloft. The problem is, I tend to gain weight so the doc(my psychiatrist) added Topamax 100 mg twice a day.(started this one in March of 2008), and it works just fine for me. I'm stable and no weight gain.I just wanted to share what works for me.
Take Care
I agree with jaimeinottowa -- every person reacts differently to different meds -- no two people are alike.
You must discuss your concerns and questions with your doctor -- he can give you the straight answers -- you should not believe everything you read on the internet or information from other people -- only your doctor is the professional who can really prescribe the proper treatment for you. Even here in this forum, we can give you our opinions and our own experiences with certain meds -- but you are an individual and everyone reacts differently to the meds.
BTW - I have never been on Topamax but are now taking Lexapro 20mg and Lamictal 200mg.
there are horror stories about most meds... most people do not react the same as others to meds.. u can ask your doctor to give u a list of meds that could be beneficial to you, you can then research each med and make the decision of what you would or would not be willing to take, and then tell your doctor how you feel about these medications. this is exactly what i did, after being on many different meds...
