lexapro to celexa

I've been on Lexapro since June of 2006 and have recently been diagnosed with BP 2 since Sept.08.  I started on Lamictal in Sept as well.  2 days ago my psychiatrist advised me to change my Lexapro 20mg to Celexa 20mg.  Is it normal for a patient to switch overnight from Lexapro to Celexa like this? She advised me to just stop the Lexapro.  I realize that they are very similar in makeup but i'm just worried that i will get too depressed in the meantime.

i was on celexa and got swtiched over to lexapro. my dr. said it was ok to just switch (as opposed to weening off) and the transition was fine...i seem to be more tired, though.

I have been on celexa for 8 years and it works fine for me. You should be ok. I dont think you will get depressed as long as you take it. I take mine at night and I sleep very well.
I have been stable nolw for 8 years so I am very pleased with it.

DOES  THE LAMICTAL KEEP  YOU FROM GOING INTO MANIA  TAKING A SSRI WITH BP 2..WHEN I TOOK CELEXA IT MADE ME FEELK AS I NEEDED TO JUMP OUT OF MY SKIN..MABEY SUINCE UR ON A MOOD STABLIZERT THATS OK????????????????????  JAMES

I would think since they are close chemically that the switch should be fairly smooth.
