loss of sexual intrest?? what could it be?

by kyah, Dec 14, 2007 06:58PM
hi I have a problem. I am bipolar. right now im on geodon, lithium, and zoloft and birth control. I use to have a really really really high sex drive. now that ive been on medicine my sex drive has been really really low. and I dont like it at all. I cant remember when I started to notice it but I know its from the zoloft possibly cause thats when it started. and I know geodon is supposed to stop the sexual thoughts I think. I just feel awkard because when im having sex with a guy I dont get that really good feeling and the really bad problems is I cant get wet(the clear stuff that comes out). its really anoying me that I cant get wet and I cant get the same sexual feelings. its very frustrating. I use to always get wet and get butterflies in my stomach and all those good feelings and get excited. but now its just like ive lost interest and I cant stand it. I have a good relationship with my boyfriend and we havent had sex yet. but I want the sex to be good and feel normal. i dont want to feel all un interested. does anyone know what medication it could be? or shold I talk to my doctor?? please help thanks

Zoloft can caused lack of sex drive.  Any anti-depressent can.

I feel the same way. And having a boyfriend, with a LOW sex drive is dreadful. I hate it. I am taking lithium and Prozac. I seriously don't even get turned on by things that I normally would like crazy. And when we are having sex I can hardly feel it. It used to be so great, but now I just wait for us to be done = [
I am only 17 and it is still uncomfortable for me to talk to my doctor about sex and birth control. (I know, pathetic) But your best bet would be talking to the doctor because they can switch some stuff around or lower your dosage. You'll be okay, you have forever to have amazing sex. And I have been dating this guy over a year and I just told him I'm bipolar. It was really hard to do so, because I thought he would think I was crazy. But he understands, and he understand that the meds affect my sex drive. So just keep him informed. I am sure he will be supportive. = ]

Zoloft can decrease your sex drive, but Geodon made me almost impotent.  It took about 3 to 4 months to notice, but each month after became worse than the previous.  Even after I stopped using it, my sex drive took about 3 months to get back to normal.
Geodon will also start to decrease your motivation over time.  It also gave me feelings of anxiety.  Hope this helps.
