mouth sores

mouth sores

I have been taking lamictal for about 5 years.  Prior to that I was on Depakote.  I also take Seraquel.  Recently I have been having a terrible problem with sores in my mouth and inside my ears itch.  I have never had mouth sores before but recently I can't get rid of them.  They get better and worse but never leave entirely.  Also my throat has a chronic mild sore feeling.  The throat problem is nothing really bad but its there and never changes for the better or worse.  I don't have skin issues, but what I have read, mouth sores can indicate a problem, possibly with the lamictal.  Has anyone else experience similar problems and if so what was the result>

I've just stopped lamictal yesterday because of terrible itching, for weeks.  I've been told that mouth sores are very worrying indeed - not as bad of course as the dreaded lethal rash, but still pretty concerning, and a reason to go to your doctor/hospital asap.

I am not 100% sure about this but i think the link between mood stabilizers in general is that they are quite strong and hard on the body, which causes the body to have a weakened immune system, which can cause anything from mouth sores and hair falling out to recurring colds/flu's.  - because of this i take mineral and antioxidant supplements as well as omega 3. but before taking these talk to your doctor as some things can interfere with your medication.
