Stopping any medication should be done at the psychiatrist's exact titration schedule. I learned the hard way from discontinuing medications too fast before my current recovery. And also you would have the return of symptoms it is treating. If you can't tolerate the side effects or feel it is not workable best to speak to your psychiatriat about other available options and if you would like to try discontinuing it ask for a titration schedule from them on how to do it.

And I also learned the hard way that what ILADVOCATE says is true by going through withdrawal because of a doctor who couldn't prescribe antipsychotics giving me her samples and then running out because she thought I would get accepted into the Centers for Mental Health and see a psychiatrist before she ran out.  So yeah if you ever get the bad idea that you don't need your meds because you feel better sometime in the future remember the withdrawal can be horrible and that you'll probably relapse.

you should taper Risperidone.I went through a withdrawal reaction to Risperidone myself before the Psychiatrist put me back on a low dose of 1 mg and is tapering it in 4 weeks. Two weeks at 1 mg and two weeks at 0.5 mg and stop.If you were at a higher dose than 1 mg you got to taper to 1 mg in a similar way otherwise you would go through a withdrawal reaction like me and believe me it's not nice.

If you were started on Risperidone a few days back then the tapering process could be much faster.I had taken the medicine for 21/2 months so it had to be tapered from 3 mg.I have 3 weeks left to stop Risperidone and I am thrilled.Even I did not like this medicine.Even then please taper this medicine under guidance of your psychiatrist
BEST OF LUCK.
