stopping meds

by SamAE, Sep 05, 2009 05:09PM
I was prescribed prozac when i went to see a psychiatrist at the beginning of august. he only gave me a prescription for a month, & i wont be able to go back to see him til september 30th. instead of having my pharmacy contanct him i just proceeded with not taking anything anymore. its been only 5 days today. im not expecting major changes soon but i used to constantly cry about things & i havent in quite some time. my only problem i feel now is i much more snappy to people than usual. like my mood on them is quick to change.other than that i feel less tired but like i said its only been 5 days...is this something thats just gonna get worse probably? i was on 20 mgs & have been on meds since right after i turned 17 & im 19 now

That's probably a sign that things are worsening. Best to speak to your psychiatrist and start it again. If you feel you don't need it you can discuss it with him but don't make any decisions on your own.

my problem with that is he put me on prozac just to see how id do with it & i was suppose to go back in 10 days but the copay i had to pay was too much so i had to wait, & now that im working & taking classes again i had to reschedule AGAIN only to find out hed be out of town most of september. he told me straight up to stop zoloft & i dont wanna mess with this whole med thing by going back to it....i noticed something you said to someone else about dizzy spells & about probably always having to be on meds. id LOVE not to have to take meds everyday...it probably wont last...but i havent even been given a proper diognosis ive just have many mood swing problems & panic so my dr just prescribed me zoloft. it wasnt til like 6 months later that i actually saw a therapist. i feel like i can actually get a better dignosis if im not on anything. ive also recently been dignosed ADD. im wondering if thats where my issues come from, or if i have problems concentrating because of my anxiety.
