I'm no dr but it sounds like bipolar type episodes to me.  I've been bipolar since i was 15, i'm now 37.  I got those urges and had other extremes too.  Denial wont help anything.  You need to pay attention to your dr and get some meds to help straighten your act up.  Yes btw bipolar can be genetic.  My mother and grandmother were both bipolar.  I had a terrible childhood due to bipolar mother.  Please seek help and don't let this get away from you.  Let us know how things go.  Shane

I know that your message is over a year old but just to add to the discussion:

As one who has supported a BP sufferer for over 20 years and studied the condition thoroughly (Luckily my job puts me in touch with some of the top researchers in the world). I can offer the following advice:

Please, no matter how "well" you feel - Do NOT go off your meds. BP is a chronic condition and for now it cannot be cured. But it CAN be managed.

Even when you feel well, it is still there, waiting for the right circumstances to trigger another episode. Unless you continue working with a good doctor and stay med-compliant, it WILL return.

There is some exciting research in progress and one day we may have way better treatments but for now all we can do is control it.

I know of a lady who nursed her husband through 30 years of BP ups and downs. He went off his meds when he felt well - had a sudden, completely inexpected depressive attack that proved fatal.
