A good news story. Escitalopram helped save my life. I stopped two weeks ago and yes I get a few brain zaps. No big deal. Felt ill and tired for a week.
Now I have emotions again and the flood of emotions could be overwhelming if it were not for the fact I know why. My brain is functioning again and I feel great.
Stick with t, it will pass. It is everything adjusting. Best thing I did was take it and the best thing I did was come off it
I was on Lexapro (escitalopram, quite similar to Celexa/citalopram) a few years ago, and was withdrawn abruptly from it by my doctors. For me, the shock sensations lasted for about 3 months, but during that period they became less and less frequent over time. It's a really bothersome withdrawal symtom, but just remember that it won't last forever. Good luck!
I am at day 4 after a 3 month taper off of Celexa. I was on it for 18 months.
I feel so glad to see other people feeling some of the same side effects so I can have sort of perspective on the whole thing. I am dizzy pretty much all day and night, but thanks to forums like this, I was prepared and those symptoms haven't caused me much panic.
Yay!
I took Celexa for a few months then went off. I had horrible withdrawl type symptoms for about 3 weeks. After that I was fine! Hang in there, it will get better.
