worried and very helpless

Is there any1 out there that can help me?
My wife has been suffering from major clinical depression for many years. She shows signs of more than clinical depression -excessive high where she talks alot, excessive spending and can get on with little sleep or becomes a cleaning fanatic with a burst of energy. Or really bad lows of  suicidal at times, depression that lasts up 2 5 days, binge eating, impulsive aggression, excessive sleeping or no sleep at all. Does any 1 have any advice or similar experiences as i dont no wot 2 do anymore.

Please see my posting for "bewildered" just below yours, Aug. 10th.  I'd write the same thing to you exactly that I wrote to him.

Sounds like it could be an oncoming manic episode and if so please please be prepared for it.

Read that post for sure...it applies to your situation almost exactly...

God Bless

I am "bewildered" in the posts.  My wife went from me being the love of her life to "I'm through" in a period of 24 hours or less.  Complete personality change and it has been devastating to me.  Won't seek counseling, won't see a doctor so there is really nothing more I can do.  I am trying to get all the info I can because of the suddeness that this hit me.

My therapist advises me to just "become an observer" for now, which is hard since we want to help.  However, I am quickly realizing that absent her cooperation, I have to stand by and see where and how long this takes.

whoa that could have been me you are describing  ten years agoas Dway said educate yourself as much as you can on bi polar but what it basically boils down the bi polar one has to be the one that wnats to get help You can lay it on the line and do the tough love thing Bi polars respond better to a firm hand My husband said you get help or this is it. So I got help.
you will have to decide what is the best thing for you and , How much do you love this person My hubby has been to hell and back for me and I dont think there is anything I can ever do enough of to let him know how much his love got me through th bi polar times What really said it was that "Babe the only thing that matters is us" and I held onto that
Keep in touch  you and your wife will be in my prayers too.Just message if you need to talk.
Love Venora .

Yes, I suffered for 30 years being diagnosed with major clinical depression only.  I ignored my manic symptoms -- through 3 marriages and divorces, wild spending sprees, promiscuity, sleeplessness, and other issues.
Very recently had a manic breakdown that I could not ignore, and after some frank discussions with my pdoc he diagnosed me as bipolar.  Now that I'm on proper bp meds, I feel so much better and most of my erratic behavior has improved.

My problem was, I knew I was depressed and told the doctor about it.  I did not realize anything was wrong when I was manic -- mostly felt good and thought my behavior was "normal".  Therefore I did not report the mania to my doctor.  So it was not his fault that I was not properly diagnosed until recently.
