Sick Cockatoo

My wife has a 9 year old Cockatoo. She took her to the vet for her annual checkup. The Vet found a growth in her stomach about the size of an egg. He is an avian vet but says he has not seen anything quite like this and is sending x-rays to the University of MO vet school. Anyone hear of a similar situation. My wife is so concerned it is cancer. Molly acts just fine and has now bowel or behavior conditions that indicate she is sick.
