how is a blood testing done in a cockatiels and how long does it take to get back the result?

Depends on what they're testing. A basic hematocrit and protein only takes a small bit of blood for the crit tubes. If they're looking for blood pathogens, they'll need a bit more.

When we take blood from a bird, we generally take it from a vein on the wing. In some large birds like geese we can tap into a vein in the foot/leg.

Results if blood is sent to a lab is generally a week. If it's a quick crit test, it can be done in about 10 minutes.
