That's a good question for your doctor. With parrots there's always a chance of picking up psittacosis if your bird gets sick with it. If you have the bird now and haven't had any problems in terms of allergies, then it probably won't make any difference now that you've been diagnosed. I have asthma but animals/birds don't bother me. I'm fortunate in that respect since I work with wildlife.

If this is a new pet that you want to add to your household, you may want to be more cautious about that. Again, ask your doctor what the risks might be.
