12 day period

Hi! Ive had my period for almost 13 days now. Im scared there is something wrong but Im only 15 and scared to death of the gyno. I wont go unless I have to. Im on Trinessa birth control and accidently missed two pills in a row a week after I had sex with my boyfriend. We used a condom and I had taken my pills before sex. Well a week after sex I started my period early and its lasting for what seems like forever. Please help. Ive looked everywhere.

It's called break through bleeding meaning your body doesn't like the birth control you're on so you need to switch. Go to the gyno and say you want to try sprintec (it's worked wonderfully for thousands of people). Don't be scared of the gyno, it's not like they can do an exam without your permission. Just stay calm

Thank you so much for the input. Its slowly getting lighter but still not stopping. My boyfriend and I have done so much research and came up with so many different conclusions. One of them being a miscarriage, although it seems impossible given we used a condom and birth control. I think Ill wait a few more days to see if it stops.

While I'm not a Dr so I cannot say exactly what's going on, I can share with you that this has happened to me 3x during my menstruating "career". The first time I was around 16 or 17 and like you, I was scared to death! There was no way I could talk to my mother! I was not on the pill, at about the 12th day it seemed to get heavier and at 16 days I had my boyfriend take me in to Planned Parenthood because I was horrified at the idea of going to my mom's gyno and I could just walk in. They thought I had likely had a very early miscarriage and could find another actually wrong. They said if I had been pregnant I was likely only around 2 weeks pregnant and that I would likely have irregular periods for a couple of months. The 2nd time it happened I was about 25, the bleeding was heavier and at 10 days I went into the gyno. He did one of those d & c procedures, the bleeding stopped and then I didn't get a period for 5 months (!!!) And when I did, it was also for over 10 days, then all normal. The last it happened I was geez, about 40. I just took ibuprofen and decided to ignore it. It lasted 14 days, I did not go to the Dr. That was 7 years ago and I'm fine.

My guess is that when you missed your pills it confused your hormones and they're ha bit out of whack. I've heard there are ways women can mess 8th how they're taking their pills and thus avoid getting their period on their vacation or honeymoon, but then end up with a long period before. Honestly, I have no idea about any of that but it sounds like you messed up your schedule by forgetting a couple of pills, yeah? It's SO hard not to panic but I'd give it a few more days before going to the gyno. Now if you start to get weak or dizzy you may have to get checked, you might need iron for a few months.

Hope I've been of some help!
