Birth control advice

I was diagnosed with PCOS in Feb. 2005 and was on Yasmin for almost five years. Last December, I had to switch birth control pills because I had different health insurance. I was put on Sronyx (Watson?) and then in Feb. I was put on Ortho Tricyclen Lo. In Dec. 2008, my doctor proscribed Yasmin to me so that I could take it for 12 weeks straight. I had no problems with doing this, I didn't have spotting or anything until Dec. 2009, but I had skipped a few days so I figured that was why. When I went on Sronyx, I did the same 12 weeks straight thing, only I started to have spotting about six weeks in. I attributed this again to taking the pill at different times every day. I didn't like how I felt on this pill so when I went to the doctor she switched me to Ortho Tricyclen Lo. I read that the best was to take these pills for skipping periods is to take three weeks of white pills, three weeks of light blue pills, and three weeks of dark blue pills, and then have a period. I started out doing this and taking my pill at the exact same time every day, but three weeks in I'm again having spotting. I really don't feel like having a period but it seems to get heavier every day even though I take my pill on time.

Now.... some questions. I know that when you try a new pill some spotting can happen, but this seems too long? Could it be related to that? Could it be related to the estrogen levels in the pills? Could it be related to my weight? I'm 5'6 and about 255, though I'm larger framed. What would be the best pill for skipping periods?

Your not suppose to use any birth control for the purpose of just skipping periods. You need to have some type of a period once in a while. Have you thought about trying Seasonique? It's the pill where you only have 4 periods a year. Although, I really don't recommend it because you do have PCOS. I too suffer from PCOS and I currently take Yasmin birth control. It works great for my body and makes my periods super light. In fact I just got over my period last 2/28 and it only started on 2/26, and was only a mere spotting and 1 day of light flow. My doctor advised me that Yasmin or Ocella (genric brand) works best for those who suffer from PCOS. And your most likely spotting because of all the change in the birth control. Your body gets use to one pill, and then you change it and you go through thr cycle again. And I would say your weight has some issues with your period, but not all. It's a combo of the pills and the weight. My advice is to stay on one type of birth control and thats it. I know you had to change because of insurance, but all this changing around does not help your body.
