Can birth control raise LDL cholesterol and iron levels?

I recently had a blood test done where I work (it's something they do annually) and my LDL cholesterol levels were a little high and so was my blood iron level. I'll admit that steak has been on the menu VERY often this year and after I got the results I've been on a low cholesterol diet and walking/running every day.  I showed my doctor these results and he said that right now it's nothing to worry about just watch my diet and the iron my just be from my vitamin supplement or the amount of iron I consume everyday. He just said that he'd definately do another blood test in about 6 months and see what that shows.
I was reading the side effects for OrthoTriCyclen-Lo and there were some reports that patients had slightly high LDL levels in the blood and that birth control pills can affect blood tests results. I didn't know to tell my doctor but I'm wondering if he's even heard of this or if it's too "out there."  Also, I read that there are reports of Gallbladder disease from using birth control (I finally had mine out last year due to the attacks).  Hmmm..?
Anyone heard of this or had any problems similar???
