MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
A detailed medical evaluation may be extremely necessary for correct diagnosis and treatment of your condition. The commonest cause of bleeding between periods or after intercourse is hormonal imbalance. The two hormones regulating a woman’s cycle are estrogen and progesterone. If they get out of balance, one may have spotting. Dysfunctional ovaries as in PCOD, thyroid gland problems, and starting and stopping birth control pills or any other birth control method can all affect your hormone balance. Bleeding after sex can indicate some serious problem. Pelvic inflammatory disease,STIs,atrophic vaginitis, cervical or endometrial polyps, cervical erosions are few common causes of bleeding after sex .In cervical erosion  cervical cells become inflamed. Hormonal changes is the commonest cause of cervical erosion which is common after taking birth control pills.STDs can also cause cervical erosion. Chlamydia, gonorrhea, genital warts from HPV, herpes, bacterial vaginosis, can all cause this condition. Any trauma to the cervix due to use of tampons, barrier methods can cause cervical erosion. Depending on your detailed symptoms and medical history your doctor may recommend a pelvic examination and tests like urine examination, pregnancy test ,pap smear and other cervical screening tests. Only after a detailed clinical evaluation the cause can be determined. Hope it really helps. Do keep us posted.
Take care and regards!
