Depo has what's called a black box warning from the fda that it causes bone density loss. They only put a black box warning on drugs that have serious side effects that are severe. Google it. It is by far the most dangerous and damaging of all the birth control options and no one who values their health should use it.

I wouldn't recommend it . Yes it's convenient bc it's 1 shot every three months but there is many side effects. The calcium is true so it's recommended to take a supplement while on it. I have seen many cases where woman have difficulties trying to conceive . It took me 18 months to regulate after getting off of it. Plus many other side effects

Wow that's crazy! I never knew this. I was on the pill before I got pregnant and I loved it and I think I'm just going to get back on that. It seems the best choice as long as u remember to take it lol

I was only in it for 6 months, so I don't know about calcium issues, but I can tell you it was the worst time of my life. I would never recommended it to anyone!

Yup i had the depo shot , i was on it for a few years & it ate pieces of my bones from my wrists, ankles, hips & back.
After i got off it it took me over 5 yrs to get pregnant.
Finally 25 wks pregnant w/ a little boy (:
I literally thought it fried my ovaries.
In my opinion its the worst form of bc out there.
Just from my personal experiences.

I think its true. My friend has very weak bones and she had to take extra calcium pills because she wanted to have the depo for BC.

Yeah I'm small I weighted like 106 at time of getting birth control. I got the deposit and lady told me I was only going to be able to use it like for two years since I'm petite and it affects ts my bones. Meanwhile I had to me taking calcium vitamins.
