Does anyone know how long breakouts last after getting off bc?

Hi,

I have currently been off my birth control (Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo) for about 3 months and am expericencing the WORST acne of my life. It just recently started this past month, my skin was fine the first 2 months I got off. I was wondering if anyone here has experienced the same thing? And if so, did your acne ever clear up once the birth control got out of your system? I don't exactly want to get back on birth control because even when I WAS on birth control it's not like it made a dramatic difference in clearing my skin...my skin just wasn't anywhere near as bad as it is now. I was thinking of maybe giving my skin another month and see if it starts to clear up and if not then maybe consider getting back on birth control. So yeah, my question to you all is when you stopped taking birth control did your acne ever get better after a while or just stay worse?

Hey, i noticed the same thing when i went off my bc (the yaz pill) i went on it because i wanted to keep my skin clear after i got of accutane (which worked amazing if anyone wants a last resort pill!) but once i took myself off of bc my skin just started to get little breakouts about 2 months after i got off it also i waited about 4 months before i did anything about it and my dermatologist put me on a face cream and a pill (very light stuff) just to control it, i would recommend talking to your doctor as soon as you can.

Thanks, yea I am going to make an appointment w/ my doctor to see what I should do and maybe see if I should get back on the pill...you said you continued getting acne for 4 months after getting of the pill? Ugh...that's a long time...right now I would say this is my 1st month since I barely started breaking out really bad about 3 weeks ago but now my acne has basically spread ALL over my face except on my chin and my nose. I wanted to ask you though, what was the name of the cream and the pill your doctor prescribed for you? Has it been working well for you? Maybe i'll mention it to my doctor when I see her...thanks again for your advice!

im sorry it's actually a gel not a cream but anyway the gels name is Ziana and the name of the pill is oreacea. if you have anymore questions don't hesitate to ask!

same thing with me! i have been off of yaz for like 5 months now. I had a clear face while on yaz. then afterwards my face breakouts were horrible! the worst they have ever been in my life! it still hasnt stopped. i just suffer with it and try not to pick at them and make them look worse.
