Effective Birth Control

I'm taking Triquilar birth control pills~21 ct pill packets.The Sun following the end of my period I took my first pill.Was I supposed to start taking them the Sun before my period started/did I do this correctly?Also, how long after I've started taking Triquilar{1 wk/3 wks/a month} until it takes effect / I can have intercourse without becoming pregnant?

im used to reading and hearing it's a 3 week wait

yes you took it correctly your supposed to start the sunday AFTER your period. not before. you can become pregnant even if youve been on the pill your whole life its not 100% if you dont want a baby you need to be using a condom as well
