High Blood Pressure and Birth Control

I am 21 years old and I have very abnormal periods, heavy menstrual bleeding and severe cramps. I also get ovarian cysts. I was going to be on birth control when I first got cysts, but my mother was against it so I did not go on it, but now I am over 18 and am looking into it again. I am also overweight. I have talked to my gyno and he was looking into to some way to put me on birth control since I have high blood pressure, he was looking into putting me on birth control shots, but still hasn't gotten back. I do not smoke or drink. I wanted to know if there was a way that I could be put on birth control with my high blood pressure or it if is something that has to be avoided because of the risks involved.
