I have only had 1 period in the 3 months I have been off birth control and pregnancy test are negative

How long does it take for your body to begin having normal periods after stopping birth control?

Thank you.  This did help a lot.  My husband has been wanting me to go to the doctor, but I guess I have just been putting it off because I don't want something to be wrong.  I will go to my MD as soon as I can and I will keep you posted.

Hello,

It normally takes 1-2 cycles after stopping the birth control pills for the periods to come back to normal. If you do not get regular periods then get an evaluation done from a gynecologist. Also then I would suggest you to get your serum HCG levels estimated since this is more specific than urine for pregnancy tests. The HCG (it is a hormone) levels rise only in pregnancy and its presence will confirm the status of your pregnancy.

I hope it helps. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
